- At night, the sun emoji will no longer appear, but the moon emoji will. Seeing 'Sunny' during nighttime was weird.

Patrick told me that they appreciate the project, that we can continue, and he provided me with tools to go beyond the allowed calls.

Announcing FediMeteo – Weather in the Fediverse!

Weather has always influenced our lives: from agriculture to outdoor activities, to extreme events that, thanks to modern technology, can now be predicted with greater reliability. Personally, weather plays a significant role in my daily decisions, which is why I decided to create a service tailored for the Fediverse.
FediMeteo uses Open-Meteo data to publish updates every 6 hours, including current weather conditions, forecasts for the next 12 hours, and predictions for the upcoming days. Each country is served by its own dedicated instance (e.g., it.fedimeteo.com for Italy), managed through snac to ensure simplicity and efficiency in publishing.
You can follow FediMeteo directly in the Fediverse (on Mastodon and compatible platforms), via RSS, or by visiting the dedicated page for your city (e.g., fr.fedimeteo.com/paris).
Currently supported countries include:
Austria, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, – with many more regions coming soon!
FediMeteo is hosted on a FreeBSD-based VPS, with each country isolated in its own jail to ensure security and scalability.

@nineofseven @admin Thanks for the hint. That format is nice, but I can already see two problems:
1) I don't think I can make the language changeable, as they're normal Fediverse posts
2) The table output could be nice - but I'm not sure how it could be rendered by many of the Fediverse different implementations, different apps, different browsers. But I'll perform some tests.
@admin Is there a possibility or future update with the info being more compact? Like only the current day forecast in compact form with icons and less text?

- short term (12 hours) forecasts will help commuters
- long term forecasts will help people that have to plan outdoor activities
The emojis will help people unable to understand the local language, the text is more precise and will also increase accessibility.
That said, maybe a "more compact" version could come in the future. I'll keep this in mind and thank you for suggesting it!

@admin I am feeding it into my "News" feed, and it is about 2-3 times longer than a usual news post ( @tagesschau), I think a compact alternative may be useful for some people.
While I like emojis, keep in mind that they might not be barrier free.
