I'll keep an eye on them in the coming days before rolling them out to other countries. In the meantime, you'll find the links in each city's bio.
Let me know if it works for you!

@admin How does it work to get the local channel in Delta Chat?:)
@admin Found it in the account bio!:) 🖖🏻
I'd like to share with you a feature I've implemented and which is currently in testing: distributing FediMeteo's forecasts using Delta Chat!
That's right: every city will have its own channel, and you'll be able to receive forecasts through Delta Chat.
For now the service is only active for Estonia, as it's a small instance with few subscribers (so I've been able to experiment without the risk of making too much noise), but it will gradually come to all the other countries too.
If you'd like to give it a try, you can subscribe to any of the Estonian cities and receive updates on the next cycle.
Stay tuned!
@admin looking forward to a Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany channel!
can you please provide more info about how is that implemented??? I guess it is a bot? is it open source???
we have also a bot running some channels, and there is a list of channels here:
https://fosstodon.org/@arcanechat/116770681911708104
Good news for #ArcaneChat / #DeltaChat users:
there is a new small (hopefully growing in the near future) list of public channels for you to join and get more content inside the app!
there is already several channels about different topics, from #food / #recipes, #news, #cybersecurity, #technology, #science, #politics, even gossips!
Delta Chat is just an extra delivery channel. Each city has its own broadcast channel, and the invite link sits in the bot's Fediverse profile bio.
Behind the scenes it uses the deltachat-rpc-client library. When a forecast goes out on the Fediverse, the same text is sent to the matching Delta Chat channel, with the Fediverse-specific markup stripped out first so it reads cleanly. If a message isn't confirmed it retries, and delivery state is saved so a crash only picks up what didn't finish.
As always, it all runs on my own servers. No third parties.
Freiburg im Breisgau is already covered: https://de.fedimeteo.com/freiburg - @freiburg@de.fedimeteo.com - and the channel will be available as soon as I'll configure the new feature for Germany. I have to manually do it for all the countries, but I'll probably start with Italy, then Germany.
For now, the FediMeteo bot sources aren't available. I'll probably release them when I'll have the time/energy to clean the code, which is currently a bit... let's say dirty 🙂
@admin btw, here is the source code of our channels bot: https://github.com/deltachat-bot/channelsbot
it can actually also create channels for mastodon accounts (see this channel for the Delta Chat official mastodon account:
https://i.delta.chat/#EB87F92DC57303205E7F3ACB6DAA06D8FE761414&v=3&x=V0eoPL-0Ypa9BYEYPCBuNOYf&j=nM1_cgF2OBoC_3xVQnb9YQFD&s=8PQh-hIBaZxtHxWtlezrSAUC&a=6j2tb0xyz%40arcanechat.me&n=ChannelsBot&b=Delta+Chat+%28Social%29
but that is basically just using the RSS feature of mastodon so messages might be ugly in some cases
@admin
Can you enable it for my city if I PM it to you?
@admin Hope to see Serbia someday soon :)

The Austrian list contains all provincial capitals which is fine, but the rest looks rather random. So maybe I could request some more randomness that happens to be closer to where I am situated 😉
The forecasts should show the correct time/timezone starting from the next update cycle

@admin For a feedback, I think the time displayed in the post are in UTC and not in the local times ones (+7, +8, & +9).
For example in the latest post (as I toot this) in @medan is posted in 21:54 UTC, while the local times shows 04:54 (UTC+7).
So when its says the next forecast for 22:00 in the post, its actually for 05:00 local time. By this way, its can be misinterpret if the forecast are really for 22:00 local times and not for 05:00.
Btw, thanks for this addition, I appreciate it!
Please note that since updates are sent at regular 6-hour intervals, it may take a little while for the first message to arrive.

I had already implemented multi-provider support, but after this morning’s issues I decided to change the behavior: we will continue using the excellent OpenMeteo as the primary provider, but in case of malfunction, the bot will automatically fetch data from MET Norway https://www.met.no and still provide forecasts, citing the source.
In the coming days, I will also update the website to reflect these changes.
I’m aware of the situation, and forecasts will resume as soon as Open-Meteo is fully operational again.
A big thank you to the Open-Meteo team for the excellent service they provide, which powers FediMeteo every day.
EDIT: everything's back to normal

From now on, forecasts are richer, clearer, and a bit smarter, without losing the familiar, readable style.
You will now see more complete current conditions at a glance: feels-like temperature, humidity, pressure, visibility, UV index, and wind gusts, all grouped in a dedicated Details section. Sunrise and sunset times for the current day are also included.
The wind line is back in focus, clearly highlighted for current conditions, and gusts are shown separately using 💨 emoji so they are easy to spot and not confused with average wind.
Pressure is no longer just a number: FediMeteo now shows a real pressure trend over the last few hours, telling you if it is rising, falling, or staying stable.
A new Warnings section has been added. When relevant, the bot will automatically flag things like:
Everything is fully localised. Labels like “feels like”, section titles, and weather descriptions are consistent across languages, and all weather conditions are now covered everywhere.
In short: same FediMeteo you are used to, but with more context, clearer signals, and fewer surprises.
These changes will start appearing with the next forecast update.

The forecasts will be in Spanish - as all the other Spanish cities. Unfortunately, I cannot set the language per-city.
Thanks to user feedback, I've fixed a bug where wind arrows were pointing in the wrong direction.
Previously, a 160° wind (from the south) showed an arrow pointing south ↓. Now it correctly shows ↑, pointing north where the wind is blowing to.
Wind arrows now follow the intuitive convention: they point in the direction the wind is moving, not where it's coming from.
Thanks to our community for catching this!
