FediMeteo is a project by Stefano Marinelli, proudly hosted on FreeBSD. For more technical details on how FediMeteo was built and works, you can read this article.
FediMeteo started as a simple idea: what if you could get regular weather updates for your city directly in your Fediverse timeline?
Built on FreeBSD with efficiency and accessibility in mind, FediMeteo now serves thousands of users across 34 countries from a tiny €4/month VPS.
The project embodies the Unix philosophy of "small pieces working together" – using Python scripts to fetch data from Open-Meteo and snac to deliver posts via ActivityPub.
FediMeteo is dedicated to the memory of the creator's grandfather, who was his go-to meteorologist and taught him the importance of weather forecasts in daily life.
